MEDITATIONS is a departure from the jazz creations Pete Levin is usually known for. Originally intended for niche marketing, Pete decided to make it an independent release. A synthesizer specialist in the New York City music recording scene, Pete was well-known for creating electronic textures. The pieces on this album feature Grammy-winning jazz flutist Ali Ryerson improvising over a lush bed of the synthesizer textures Pete is known for. Making the album all the more unusual, each of the 4 tracks on the album are exactly 15 minutes long, the idea being to let the listener become immersed in the mood of the piece. Released in 2013 after Pete had moved to Upstate New York, the CD cover image is the peaceful, idyllic field in back of Pete's Woodstock home.
